This is Sunday a bright clear day. & O! what a sunday; The whole of the Army of South East Mo is out on Parade. Cannon are roaring. & musketry & all the noise & confusion incident to the Army. The division teams are all in & they too have to be inspected, the train that Hedge came with had 280 six mule teams, then there are the Baggage & supply trains Regimental teams &c. You have but little idea what a large amount of mules & horses it takes to move even this small Army, for there are not more that ten or twelve thousand soldiers here now. I think from all that I can learn that we will march from here to Batesville in Arkansas, we may not go directly there but that our ultimate destination is Little Rock via Batesville I have no doubt. & I know that you will watch with deep interest, movements in that direction & when we start in that direction we certainly will go more rapidly than we have marched yet
